The simple combination of vitamin D and selenium, if taken in combination, could probably prevent more than 80% of all cancers.

Approximately 50% to 75% maybe up to 80% of cancer are related to diet, lifestyle and caused by tobacco use, lack of exercise and again poor diet meaning unhealthy eating habits lacking in consumption of fruits, vegetables and fiber. If people could control these lifestyle habits, a person's risk of developing cancer can be prevented or drop dramatically. However there will always be people that have a genetic predisposition to cancer, therefore regular check-ups are so vital, especially if there is a family history of cancer. I lost my father from pancreatic carcinoma cancer and it is deadly. The survival rate is 1%.

Frankly, I just can't understand why he had this disease. He was doing everything right yet still it got him. We will miss Steve Jobs. Hopefully his demise will lead to an increased awareness of this disease.

Jobs used to be a toker in his younger years. This is just speculation, but that may have something to do with it, along with stress and workaholic (both suppress the immune system).
