My Japanese friend here in Tokyo is currently undergoing such treatment: daily radiation plus hormone medication. He has no choice ... he must undergo surgery someday, but this treatment is being carried out in an effort to reduce the size of the cancerous tissue prior to surgery. The cancer has spread into a testicle, so his situation is really complicated.

So far the radiation/hormone treatment seems to be going okay ... and he is in high spirits. He jokes that the hormones, which he says are "female" hormones, are turning his body into that of a woman's. He is in his early 60s.

So hopefully this course of treatment does work ...

The surgery is still a golden rule for prostate cancer.
