Diabetes-related amputations (toe, foot or lower part of the leg) have now reached record levels in some Western countries. Govts should run ads similar to what they do with smoking as suffering from diabetes doesn't only mean 'being fat', have heart pbms etc.

I think people would respond more to that plus they often don't realise its a serious/likely outcome when you're overweight and suffer from diabetes.

I heard that the pairing of food & pharma companies were so successful, their stocks have constantly risen in value as well.

The Earth's population of humans has doubled in the last 25 years, so the rate of diabetes has doubled, even as the number of diabetics has quadrupled.
