I think this is cool. First, the artifacts are from the debris trail, not from what is left of the vessel itself, and that trail will degrade rapidly anyway; second, it is to be sold as a block, and the buyer must demonstrate ability to showcase and care for the objects sufficiently.
It seems like a very tasteful way to memorialize the victims.
