I've had the misfortune to see some people doing budokon... it is most definitely NOT a martial art. There is no martial intention, all I saw was people flailing at empty air in a way that is sure to cause major joint damage later. If you look at tai chi, aikido, kung fu, karate, katori, kyuudo, or any real martial art there's a focus to the training, an awareness that you are in fact learning a potentially lethal skill, and a respect and intention that goes with that. In budokon I saw none of that, just random flailings that undoubtedly burn calories, but are in no way a legitimate martial tradition.

The inevitable bastard child of the recent fetish with both eastern "spiritualism" and the hyper-commercialization of the fitness industry.

I'm sure these guys will make their bucks soon enough.

The aggressive marketing shows their sincere martial intention in the commercial war.

“I need people who feel it as an art.”
