All it takes in this life to make a Japanese happy is a cell phone and a virtual pen pal. Why go out? They'll do the same thing they can do at home, which is tap out insipid messages to whoever's got the time to tap a response. By staying home they can save on train fares and other outlays. It's not easy to market to people when their existence has been distilled down to the essentials of a mobile communications device and a flush toilet.

Are these the same women who show up at the konkatsu events at Imado Shrine when they're thirtysomething?

Low alcohol drinks are for people that have something else to do, these ladies should be drunk off their faces in the privacy of their own lonely homes

They just need some good loving and their stay at home ways would change. The just have nothing better to do. Show them something more interesting and you would see the difference immediately.

this is a rather sad article, as if the industry is encouraging the girls to remain single. and yeah, what about the guys? shouldn't they invent limited-budget-items for the single guys?? better yet, limited-budget-goukon lolz

Anything to make money. If companies had some social responsibilty they will think of someway to encourage the women to socilaise more. It is the extremes here: either the ladies just throw away all their dignity and are involved in the entertainment industry seriously or they shut themselves in their little apartments and isolate themselves from the rest of the world.
The busineses have not forgotten the men. Soon they will have the products for the "herbivores".

Next week it will be "firms marketing goods for young women who enjoying going out and partying", then the week after that it will be another "staying at home and consuming in the nest" boom.
It's just an endless cycle. It might equalize at some point though, and firms will then be marketing goods aimed at "women who are enjoying the latest trend of staying in sometimes and going out at other times".
For God's sake!!

Japan companies doing marvels trying to fix its society of negative growth ratio.
Yes, haha. Enjoy the time alone, so they can get married to someone they don't know and continue to feel alone. It works out well.
