So you can't get a job if you are an ex-con, Burakumin, daughter of Shoko Asahara...the list goes on. And people whine about having to import foreigners to do menial work!
They may have paid for their crime(s) in prison, but in this job climate it would be much nicer to see jobs going to people who are not criminals or ex-criminals. That might also directly lower the overall crime rate as a huge amount of crimes here in Japan (at least that we read about here on JT) are committed by the unemployed with no past criminal history.
What about cleaning streets or taking care of some other stuff, all by a government program and for the society. But, criminals (or ex-criminals) I guess are not really that enthusiastic to find any job...
Monoflow--that's a really good idea, but that would put half of the elderly out of work here in Japan. But I think they should put ex-cons into some less appealing jobs

Wow, only a 7.1% recedivism rate to recommit crimes! Even at 37% for the unemployed ex-convicts, that still surpasses the US rate by a long shot.

Editor, could we have a link or at least a name for this organization, so that we could look it up?
Thanks!

Too bad. They made their decision when they committed the crime.

I thought going to prison was payment for their crime.

and so these ex-criminals go back to jail... at least they get a place to sleep and food to eat there.
