No one likes to air their dirty laundry for all the world to see, and cosplayers, with their intricate and often home-made threads, can be especially sensitive when handing over their unusual wares to dry cleaners accustomed to dealing with more ‘ordinary’ customers.
Now cosplayers from Hokkaido to Okinawa can avoid judgemental glances at the local dry cleaners thanks to a special online service that caters exclusively to their needs. From professional cleaning to costume storage, this is the type of support every cosplay-loving individual has ever dreamed of.
The service, provided by Hakusei Dry Cleaners in Hiroshima Prefecture, is called ‘Layer Support’, which is a clever play on ‘cosp-layer’ and the layers of clothing they wear. The company understands that costume garments need special care and attention, and will carefully examine each article of clothing to identify the type of professional cleaning it needs.
The Basic Course will professionally clean up to five articles for 4,000 yen. The Deluxe Course will have up to six articles looking spick and span for 5,000 yen. Optional courses will clean the surface of your boots for 1,000 yen, your entire boots for 2,000 yen and, for 1,000 yen, they’ll store your clean costume for up to a year.
To get started with the cleaning service, users will have to register to receive a special delivery kit. Once the kit arrives, all you have to do is fill out some forms, pack your precious costume inside and send it off to the cleaning company.
The company also throws its support behind cosplayers by featuring some of them on their website, including their different outfits and links to their individual Twitter accounts.
To take a look at all their services, visit the company’s Layer Support website. From wigs to Elven ears, they’ll listen to all your requests and endeavour to accommodate all your cosplay needs.

Ain't cheap, but probably a good business for someone!

Guess they must specialise in stain removal also.

Why do they insist on calling packages "courses"? I've seen that everywhere.
I've also seen people bringing in some pretty strange things in my local drycleaning shop, so I don't imagine people would need a special service for this.

And I see they're using dry cleaning and aren't using dirty ofuro water to wash their flamboyant garments.
