In a country that is as wealthy as Japan, and that shamefully wastes as much food as it does, that anyone goes hungry is unforgivable.

Clarification: Second Harvest Japan is the national food bank for Japan delivering food and supporting the development of food banking from Hokkaido to Okinawa. Charles McJilton is the CEO/ Executive Director and Yusuke Wada is the Operations Manager. They have a staff of eight employees. While it is true that about one-third of all food goes to waste in Japan, more and more companies are getting interested in donating food and learning how they can get involved. It is a positive trend that people are looking at new ways in which nonprofits can partner with businesses to provide a win-win situation.

This is not the Japanese way. I am tired of seeing westerners impose their morality on Japan.

    Kimigano,

we're not imposing our morality on Japan, we're just helping those less fortunate. You're free to ignore the needy if you want.

    Starviking,

    Go do it back home!

    Kimigamo,

if it's not against the law I'll look out for the needy as I see fit. I also notice you seem to have a Native-level standard of English, are you truly fit to say what is 'not the Japanese way'?
