Men, please AVOID having a woman dress you at all costs. Perhaps the women mentioned in the article are professionals trained to dress men appropriately, but otherwise, this is usually the worst thing you can do.

If you need help, the BEST advice I have is to go to a good clothier (doesn't have to be top level, but not a cheap place. I'd recommend something like Nortstroms in the States, someplace with a serious men's department). Then, go to the men's accessories area (neck ties, belts, etc) and find an attentive gay sales man (must be gay MALE - don't worry, one or more will be working there). Tell him the look your going for and budget, and he will be a godsend. And no, he will not make you look effeminate. Don't worry about this.

The accessories guy always views an outfit's gestalt, so start there rather that with the suit guy. Also, accessories need the most care in selection, because the quality and coordination of accessories are the first and easiest thing for an observer to notice about your outfit.

So, find the gay male accessories salesperson for a great look for whatever you're going for, business, casual, whatever.

I have one of these "hotties" at home. Checks what I am wearing every morning before I leave or will change the clothes I have got out while I'm in the shower. Even washes and irons my clothes. Initial investment was a little more than Y5000 but in the long run I seem to have done well on this deal.

Honestly, most men in Tokyo atleast dress much better than women. Offcourse, there are exceptions and weirdos but this service probably more usefull to inaka and suburb folks and not the regular west tokyo city dwellers. That said, as a guy, I would rather a guy get my clothes because yes, women generally have a lousy fashion sense and read too much fashion mags , and no offence there are exceptions everywhere.

To " re-dress " someone, one has to " un-dress " that someone first. If the site is honest about who's going to do the dressing , then it's a great idea.

Japanese women's trends change largely from year to year, though there haven't been any major changes since hte knee-high stockings of two years ago. This year's trend of the half smock, have long shirt/dress haven't flown well at all. Trusting a Japanese woman to tell you what looks stylish for that much money you may as well just wipe your butt with the 5000 yen and flush it down the toilet, because that may well be the trend by the time you do.

I apologize to those out there that think they have style expertise -- the jeans tucked into the cowboy boots worked for a couple of years -- but instead of listening to what 'expert' says if you're going to buy into such a lame service, just ask the person you are with. It's all subjective to begin with.

Here's a better idea. Forget about what a bunch or tarts or 'herbivors' say and be comfortable with yourself. Anyone who donnes the latest trend trying to please others has already failed.

If you are going on a hot date, you can always ask a female acquaintance for an opinion if there's one handy. Of course, I dress immaculately all the time so I don;t require this kind of assistance (99% of the time I choose functional and I hate dressing up). Seriusly though, for a more formal thing, a woman's advice can be helpful.

I like to compliment women on how they look. Call me old-fashioned. Most of them take it the right way. Occasionally I might suggest a change in style, surprisngly enough a lot of women like to hear what men think too.

fashion is expression on how you feel, so you feel lazy then wear your lazy clothes! ^o^/ don't waste money!

This service just asks you questions on your style, budget, etc and promise to send clothes by mail. Disappointing.. I guess only men with no common sense can use this...

Clothing is just an outward expression of an inward attitude. I've seen guys who just radiated confidence and could have pulled off rocking up at a business meeting wearing a speedo and a top hat. By the same token I've seen slouch-backed cringers who wore lovely tailored suits from Hong Kong and made the suit look shabby by association.

Personally my rules are simple:

Anything below the waist is black (socks, shoes, underwear, belt, etc) Don't be cheap - buy good quality and it'll last longer and you'll look good while wearing it Don't buy anything with a brand name more visible than a small monogram... I am NOT a walking billboard! Get it tailored!!! - It costs a little extra but it's worth the money, especially if you're not the "standard" Japanese shape Simple and elegant - Don't get too complicated. The clothes are meant to accentuate your best features, not distract from them. You don't want someone to remember your fantastic tie and forget you. Don't overdress.

... as for these ladies... they break rule 4 - nothing is tailored and so it is therefore inferior. And don't assume they're getting it right from measurements, most guys don't have a clue how to measure themselves and tend to lie even worse than women about the results if they think there's a cute girl reading the results.

Fashion is for insecure people, those who want to make up for lack of physical appearance, or people with low intellect. Not to be confused with dressing appropriately and moderately.
