Roughly a year ago, we took a look at some very original bathing suits from Japanese swimwear maker Footmark. Offered as an alternative to the one-piece swimsuits traditionally used by girls in Japanese P.E. classes, Footmark’s skirted designs managed to be fresh yet conservative, not to mention cute.
While they were offered in adult sizes as well, the primary target market was junior high and high school students. Apparently the company got such a positive reaction from adult customers, though, that this year it’s offering what it calls the Adult-Use School Swimsuit, a brand-new design that’s just for grown-ups.
Offered in the standard P.E. colors of navy or black, Footmark says it designed the suit for customers who want a modest, understated look. The company particularly recommends it to women who make only a few trips to the pool or beach each year and want something they can wear whether they’re swimming for fitness or leisure.
The skirt is long enough to keep your bottom covered as you lounge on the sand or swim laps. Meanwhile, the wide sleeves limit your shoulders exposure to UV rays and unwanted eyes, and the rounded collar is feminine without being cleavage-flauntingly plunging.
The suit is available in sizes small to extra-extra-extra-extra-extra-large, with prices ranging from 7,236 to 8,316 yen. Preorders have already started through Footmark’s Ukiukiya online store, and also Rakuten. Shipping is scheduled for later this week, so you could be seeing this look as early as next month.

What the heck is wrong with this people and its fixation with a damn sailor uniform??? Before coming to Japan you're curious, you even might find it cute and all, but then you come here and realize that EVERYTHING revolves around the said uniform, leaving somebody even disgusted just at the sight of them, like when you smell greasy food in the air when you're full, specially when you see 13, 17 years olds vulgarly wearing skirts so up high that's like watching pieces of raw meat walking around the station in the early morning.

Are they aiming for new overseas markets with the 'extra-extra etc large" sizes?

why does it only come in navy and black? the designers come up with this new product, and it looks good, but there is such a thing as colour! red, yellow, orange, pink, light blue, purple, how a multi coloured one, how about stripes? I think its a good start, but, this product can be brought into the 21st century by adding a "splash" of colour, (no pun intended)

Japanese women can get away with wearing these, maybe some other Asian women, but western body shapes would make these look odd.
As for the sailor uniform... I don't see anything wrong with it. Yes some girls hoik their skirts up, but so do girls in other countries... here in Scotland they're nicknamed 'pelmets' they're so short.

And no doubt there is plenty of needed padding around the chest area......

I commend Footmark for coming up with these fabulous swimsuits!
"why does it only come in navy and black?"
Actually, black is the best color for this fabulous swimsuit!

They are what they are, and they look good on Japanese women...

Looks to like they simply lengthened the skirt, looks better than the current ones.
As for the colours those are currently in use, ditto for the Boys. Like with most school clothing you get little choice and buy approved ones at certain shops.
At home you need to add name and school badges.

They would look great on any woman with a great body, lol
