I would prefer improvements in the real world to those in the virtual one.

I "played" SL2 before. I found it too "texty" and lack a straight forward interface for the beginner. Also, there is way too much porn or sexually orientated material in the cyber world for my liking.

Second life worries me. 1. Too many people don't have first life sorted out, second life seems like an escape. 2. Bottom line this is another way to bleed money from us for something we really don't need. 3. Already there is a heirarchy of rich vs poor in the second life world. It is already about money and resources. Why join another world where the same capitolistic greed exists as in the real world. For me if I want to go spend time in another world, I'd like one with a more level playing field.

I think the internet made sense. People wanted to communicate, share and promote things, sell stuff etc... It has empowered much more communication and has had an up side for the biz types too. Win, win mostly. But it has also allowed a generation to disconnect from reality and end up isolated and disfunctional. So making it even more virtual seems like a very bad idea.

I think we need to spend more time developing a better First Life for a broader spectrum of people world wide. A better use of our creative energy would be to pitch in and make this life better. Challenge!

But he indicated that Japanese subscribers may have to wait for years until they will be able to communicate with others in the Japanese language in Second Life, where English is the common language.

Erm, Japanese is already in use in SL. There's even a "loveho" there....

My friend's wife is full blown addicted to SL. I did a little research and found that millions are addicted and marriages are breaking up over this crap
