I retract my early comment. If it is for girls attending school, it is to their benefit as long as it is worn with proper decor, and not for the purpose of teasing.

It's great. Americans come here and tell the Japanese they should not wear uniforms, that they should be themselves. But when given a choice the Japanese reject this American thinking and opt for their own heritage. We have a lot to learn from these young women.

I know some people that dont are soldiers and like to wear stuff that looks militar, they think that make them look like tough guys. If is not provocative stuff, even crossdresing is inside the tolerance levels.

What if girls like it then let them. But remember this is also the country where schools start to buy into fashion too, and get more fashionable school uniforms. Uniforms are a good thing in some ways, as it makes it easier for people to dress, and hopefully look good, and makes it easier for other people to see that you still are in school.

Ofcourse I prefer to wear my own clothes and always wanted it so when I was in highschool, was actually glad that we don't have such customs. But still, if you're thinking from the other perspective, besides, even some schools in USA wants students to wear school uniforms.

do you have any idea how much the uniform industry makes in japan? its big big business.

School uniforms in the US for public school students are comparatively recent. They used to be associated solely with the Catholic and exclusive private prep schools. At the two most prestigious private schools in Dallas, the students wear uniforms but a lot of the little idiots will play one up games with shoes, purses, cars, and etc. "Aren't you bothered by the dirty old men when you wear that uniform all over the place after school?" "Yes, but the dirty young men make up for it."

I prefer school uniforms too especially the micro mini skirt variety. In all seriousness though just another weird Japan fashion trend.

Unfortunately in this part of Canada there are no school uniforms. Only someone at the head of the school telling girls how much flesh to where it can be exposed.

If they like thier uniforms, for whatever reason, good for them.

Back in my old high school they adopted uniforms in sophmore year, but I didn't get one until senior year because the manufacturer had to special make an 18 40/41. Maybe uniforms do wonders for productivity but their handeling of situations like mine and others like mine has incited my ire.
