11-year-old boy hit, killed by train at crossing in Saitama
SAITAMA —
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident on Friday afternoon in which an 11-year-old boy was hit by a train and killed at a railway crossing in Gyoda, Saitama Prefecture.
TBS quoted police as saying that the boy, who has been identified as Tsubasa, Nakajima, was riding his bike across a 2-meter-wide portion of track at which there is no gate or alarm, when he was hit by a three-car train at 4:30 p.m.

Children are said to have narrower peripheral vision than adults, at least according to the police and driver's licensing authorities here. (Had my licence renewed yesterday). Poor little guy.

Saitama is a bed town prefecture to Tokyo . A little late but we should have at least a barrier lift on both sides of the track in these small lane cut aways .

trains give off sound you cant miss it. i live 10 minutes away from station and i can hear when a train passes

It should be mandatory for all train crossings to have at least an alarm. Especially if you can't see the train coming a ways off.
