12-year-old boy dies after apparently falling from bridge

School starts this week, better check if he's been bullied.

Because the boy was found still wearing his clothes and shoes, police believe he may have accidentally fallen 40 meters from the bridge that spans the river.

So if he didn't have his clothes or shoes it would have been murder or suicide? Pretty poor investigation there police.

The bridges I've seen in Japan all have a railing that's at least waist high (a bit more for a 12-yr-old). My guess is they're saying he may have "accidentally fallen" to save the family some grief. Nobody wants to believe their child killed himself.

I've heard that often, Japanese people usually take their shoes off before committing suicide by jumping to their death.

I agree: check for bullying. Japan has a sad side.

Fell? Do 14 year old boys climb over bridge railings alone just for the fun of it? Maybe, but it's not likely. If he was with a group and egged into it, yeah maybe, but being alone sort of points in the direction of yet another teenage suicide.
