127 firefighters join in Tokyo Tower climbing race
TOKYO —
Some 127 firefighters on Monday took part in a climbing race up Tokyo Tower as part of the 2nd National Fire Fighter Festival 2008. As part of a rescue drill in a tall building, the firefighters, wearing 20 kg of gear, climbed the staircase to a height of 150 meters.
The winner was Takenori Harako, 24, a Kawasaki firefighter. The annual event started last year in Fukuoka. Four female firefighters and two from New York also joined in this year’s event.

No... Time...?
I can't imagine how they could have a "Fair" race unless they used individual times as the indicator of who the winner would be...
There's just not enough room on that staircase for 120 people to go at it, all at once...And for it to be considered 'Fair'....

An annual Climb Tokyo Tower race started in Fukuoka? That's a long climb.
