i just got back from hiroshima where a guy asked me to sign a petition against nuclear weapons. he looked shocked when i said i support them. But they protected me from the USSR and another country i am not allowed to mention.
Good on the people trying to make this an actuality. In a way I finally agree with moderateguy on something, though, and that's that until the US makes a serious commitment and 'leads the way', there's only going to be a lukewarm effort by others. Hence, it's great that a president like Obama is in office, who is serious about getting a jump on it. Hopefully that will help with Russia doing the same, and the real work can begin. It'll take time, but hopefully it will come true.
‘‘To fulfill a world without nuclear weapons, and inspire a greater peace among our kind, humanity must stand together to make this vision a reality,’’
Well intentioned, but the key question that nobody wants to address is HOW do we make it a reality.

When the US decides nukes are a thing of the past, then it may happen, not when the peace guys decide.
