Student, 17, falls to death from 4th floor of school building in Kamakura

KANAGAWA —

A 17-year-old high school student on Sunday died after he fell from the 4th floor of a school building in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. According to the school, Akira Tsuda, 17, was running along a corridor with friends around 12:30 p.m., when he somehow crashed through a window and fell 13 meters.

He was taken to hospital but died about four hours later. School officials said seven students, including Tsuda, had come to school to prepare for their school festival without notifying teachers that they were on the premises.

it is absolutely criminal that students are left on their own at school. even during the school year when teachers are busy doing other things....what a TEACHER is doing instead of teaching im sure i dont know but would like to find out.

well im kind of person that dont understand anything bout investigation, i could use word "somehow" but if was policeman or detective i would know use beter word to asure bout what hapened. i dont live at japan or even know this kid, i felt very sad just about reading this, i imagine how could i feel if i were somebody of his family...

if a girl of age 15 or any age kill her parents or relatives, its certain that they dont know the true meaning of word family, theyr not doing they job. if were a TRUE family im very sure that kind of disaster would never hapen!

My condolences to the parents of this young man, everyone has thier opinion but on this one i'd just have to keep my thoughts to myself. It happened and thats it, regardless of what the children were doing.

I can't recall being in a classroom without a teacher present in my high school days. Japanese kids treat their classroom like a home away from home. Come and go as they please. They're often given keys to open this and that. I'd have to say kids at my high school were better supervised.

"Fell thru a window"? ANd I had been thinking to highly of J-cops deductive abilities! I agree with ogiedoogie... there is a lot more to this story! Teenages only tell lies when they are in trouble, or if they know they will be in trouble, the keep their mouths shut. If someone knows something more, and is not talking, I hope they can live with it! And yes I did notice "SOMEHOW" in this report... another word for "unlikely"!
