2 bodies found in burned-out container truck

The remains of a man and woman were found inside a container truck that was destroyed by a fire in Fuchu, Tokyo, on Sunday morning.

According to police, a motorist saw the truck ablaze, parked under an elevated part of the Chuo Expressway at around 1 a.m. Sunday, Fuji TV reported. It took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the blaze.

Police believe the bodies were a man and his wife. The door to the truck was partly open, while the engine was running, police said. The vehicle's hazard lights were also flashing.

The number plates had been removed from the truck, police said.

A local resident was quoted by media as saying he heard two loud explosions before the truck apparently burst into flames.

This will be a challenge for the police to figure out exactly what happened here. I hope they have the resoureces to do that.

I don't think I'm letting my imagination run wild by thinking that something sinister has happened here.

Removing the number plate, some extremely messed up form of suicide? need more info.

Not suicide. Who takes the number plates off before setting a car on fire? Someone who wants to slow the police down as much as possible. My guess is that the two were killed, then put in the truck and burned to slow down, if not prevent, an investigation as to who was murdered, and provide clues as to who might have killed them.

@ Dan

That was my first thought but it doesnt make sense to knock someone off on an express way due to all the cameras, your going to be seen. Other thing is one could have killed the other then taken their own life. Speculation obviously.

@Kobe The truck was "parked under an elevated part of the Chuo Expressway" There were likely no cameras at all.
