Who the hell leaves two infants alone for seven hours? What about feeding and diaper changes. "They were sleeping and I didn't want to wake them" is a bullshit answer. The parents were probably drunk and didn't wake up in time.
You would think that, after all these years and incidents that everybody would know not to leave kids or animals in parked cars. The ignorance and selfishness of some people knows no bounds.
26.6 degrees at noon - perhaps outside where they may be a breeze, or at least the air is moving...but in a car the temperature rises at an alarming rate, it must have been close to 50 degrees in that car...so sad for the children to be alone & scared. Shame on the parents.
They need to investigate if it was negligence on the parents part. I can't imagine that they didn't notice their two kids were not in the house & missing. It's not as if they had 7 kids and lost track of the two. Were they intoxicated, high on drugs? If they were, should be charged with manslaughter!
This is crazy. I don't even leave my pets in the car. Even after 10 mins it's like an oven in there, but 7 HOURS?! That's insane. So what if they're sleeping when you get home. You take them in the house as gently as possible. Sure, they wake a little but they go back to sleep again. No problem. I hope the parents get everything that's coming to them, times two.
Again.... Lack of common-sense kills again in Japan....
When will they learn....
Maybe they need to start teaching common-sense 101 in grades K through 12,
1) You don't start fights or try to be a tough-guy in front of 3 drunk construction workers late at night when you are all alone.... You just don't do it...
2) You don't leave kids unattended in cars.... PERIOD....!
3) You need make sure where your kids and toddlers are when you get into the family car to back out of the drive way, you can't assume because you didn't run them over yesterday, that today will be ok...
I'll start posting common-sense tips for those Japanese that have never been exposed to common-sense... Probably like 90% of the adult japanese population...
This happens every year at this time of year and I always find it unfathomable how a parent can forget a child. Usually, however, it is one parent in a morning rush to work wherein he/she forgets to drop the kid off at daycare. It is at least conceivable in that circumstance but TWO kids left by BOTH parents at HOME? It defies imagination. RIP kids and I feel for the parents but their apparent negligence here is almost unforgiveable.
antkiller: I was wondering the same thing. Either the 11-month old was the result of LIGHTNING FAST gestation, REALLY LONG labor, or something's wrong with that first sentence. Were they adopted? Is it a typo? What the heck?
Three years ago when a man was driving drunk and killed three chuildren after he hit their car and knocked it off of a bridge (and after an appeal by teh prosecutors), the high court gives the perp a life sentence. Two parents leave their children in a car for seven hours following a road trip, resulting in the tragic death of two toddlers. Makes me wonder what sentence the high court will hand down here...? But in a land where a man can get 7 years for murdering and dismembering his own sister, my hopes are not high (hiopefully, though, the lay-judge system will put this to rights)...

Does anyone else find it weird that she has a "1" year old child and an "11" month old child. Is this a typo or is there more to this story?
Pete.

Poor babies. I cannot imagine being so distracted or idiotic as to leave not one but two children in a car for seven hours.

I thought that too for a moment but then realized that 1 year old means less than 2 years old.

More idiocy from the land of idiots. Poor little kids, the innocent always cop it.
