2 killed in Tokyo apartment fire
Two people died after their apartment was destroyed by a fire in Tokyo’s Mitaka on Sunday morning.
According to police, flames were seen coming from a residence at about 6:10 a.m. The residence occupies the second and third floors above a beauty salon. TBS reported that firefighters took about two hours to extinguish the blaze.
The remains of a man and woman were found, police said, adding that the bodies were likely those of a 83-year-old woman and her 53-year-old son who lived in the apartment.
