Why not practice in the South Pacific? There's live targets to practice off of, especially zodiac boats and a certain pirate craft called the Steve Irwin.

Good one Kwaabish. My sentiments exactly, off the coast of Japan the only real targets are Japanese fishing boats. God, I hope I did not give them any ideas.

Kwaabish. Give it a break. The anti-whaling ship is hardly a pirate. If they were, the whaler's would be swimming home by now.

The conflict there is a battle of positions and both sides are doing what they think they have the right to do. The way I see it, it is a proper struggle.

As for pirates and J destroyers. You had better be more worried that these don't end up in pirate hands.

Why not practice with that yankee-boat at Nagasaki as live target?

I understand this strategy...they will ram the pirate ships since they have perfected that technique on the Japanese fishing boats.

I hope the targets zig and zag at high speed and shoot back. Otherwise it's almost a waste of time.

If SS continues to ram them, yes that's what will happen.

Wrong. One side whether anyone likes it or not is engaging in a legal maritime enterprise. The other are eco-terrorists bent on violence.

Been milked far too much already.

It's a good thing that Japan is contributing and having a practice run of sorts. Nothing discouraging should be said about Japan, as they are intent on protecting their assets and lives in a dangerous region. Good for them.

Expect the MSDF to integrate well with the nations already there.
