A wild boar appeared in the backyard of a residence in Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture, on Sunday morning and bit two people, police said.

The incident occurred at a residence in Aso City’s Kurumagaeri district at around 7:30 a.m., Fuji TV reported.

A 78-year-old male resident of the house was bitten more than 10 times, while a 69-year-old woman who lives with him, was also bitten, police said.

The boar, which weighed about 100 kilograms, was later shot to death by members of a local hunting club.

According to local residents, the boar has been seen multiple times in the woods behind the house.

I didn't know boars attacked people.

Basically I think they resent being made into flower-shaped nabe.

There was a boar last year that was attacting people who were carrying white shopping bags. Apparently a member of the community use to feed the boar bread from one of those white shopping bag and this person die and the boar stopped getting a hand out.

I think Japanese Boar's are taking up the hobby of hunting humans. Luckily at this point in time we're not an endangered species.

Shomen kara tatakau no ha inoshishi no hokouri da.

Can anyone name that movie from my butchered romaji?

Two things here. This is a 100 kg boar. 220 pounds of gristle and thistle. Look at the ages of the victims. I have a feeling that they were bothering the animal while it is feeding in preparation for cold weather. This is a pretty dangerous time and they were terribly unprepared to deal with this animal. All the boar would need to do is knock them down and start biting. It probably had 30 kg more mass than either of them.

I am younger and bigger and I would not have gotten within 2 meters of it if I had not intended to kill it.

Seriously I have for a long time had a idea about setting up Corporate motivational weekends around hunting Boers with hunting dogs. Teams of three,s set out with two dogs and licence Hunter into these infested areas (Fukushima and the Mountains in Izu). When I was living in Asami, I often walk the Mountains bush and got bail up a few time by boars. I grow up on a farm in Australia. I often when out to kill a feral pest ( wild pig ) with my two dogs for meat to feed the working dogs and farm pet. So I am award of Pig behaviour and I know how to avoid any aggression. I am not aware of Boars being scared or if they are native here in Japan. I know they can really damage the environment if the number are not keep in check. In Europe their numbers were keep in check naturally by Apex mammals and later by human behaviour. In Australia the Wild Pig population has destroy massive areas of wetlands and people are pay to manage the eradication of this feral pest.

2 meters5SpeedRacer? I'd not be within 20 if I could help it. They're not quite in mating season yet, but still vicious creatures.

John-San They have no predators except bears in Japan. There are few human hunters as well, especially as they seem more preoccupied with shooting each other more than anything.
