An 83-year-old man and his 53-year-old son died in a fire that destroyed their two-story wooden home in Fujisaki, Aomori Prefecture, on Sunday morning.
According to police and firefighters, a neighbor called 119 at around 2:10 a.m. Sunday to report flames coming from the house of Yukio Miura, 83. The blaze destroyed the 200-square-meter residence and a small shed, Sankei Shimbun reported.
It took firefighters about three hours to extinguish the blaze.
Police said the bodies of Miura and his son Koichi were found amid the ruins of the house. Miura's 44-year-old daughter, who also lived in the house, was rescued from the entrance, suffering from smoke inhalation. She was taken to hospital where her condition is stable, police said.
