2,000 atttend saury festival in Meguro

TOKYO —

A saury festival drew some 2,000 people near JR Meguro Station on Sunday. The annual festival is based on a Japanese traditional “rakugo” (comic storytelling) about how tasty the fish is when cooked crudely rather than professionally. Meguro is featured in the story.

According to organizers, 6,000 fresh saury were distributed for free to 2,000 people at the festival. Another saury festival will be held in Meguro opposite the station on Sept 14.

I think most readers would stand a better chance of understanding the article if you call it Sanma rather than Saury.
