Twenty-seven people were injured after a bus and dump truck were involved in an accident on the Higashi-Meihan Expressway in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at around 3:15 a.m. The tour bus was carrying a group of tourists back to Kurashiki in Okayama Prefecture, from a trip to Tokyo Disneyland, Fuji TV reported. The bus left Disneyland at 8 p.m. on Monday night.

According to police, the bus moved out of the left lane to pass another vehicle and rear-ended the dump truck. Both vehicles crashed through the guardrail and rolled about two meters down an embankment and ended up in a tea leaf field.

All 24 passengers on the bus, as well as the driver, a relief driver and the dump truck driver, suffered injuries and were taken to hospital, but none of the injuries were serious, except for the bus driver who broke his left leg, police said.

papa.."drivers has" (sic)?

There were two on the bus, one asleep in the back, and the duty driver had been driving for two hours, after getting a full eight hours sleep the night before.

According to this article, the bus moved from the overtaking lane back into the inside lane where it rear-ended the truck, and that is the last thing the driver remembers.
