3 found dead in apparent suicide pact in Aichi

Police in Higashiura, Aichi Prefecture, said Sunday that three adults were found dead at their home in what appears to be a suicide pact.

According to police, the bodies were found at around 12:45 Saturday morning by another family member. NTV reported that a 67-year-old man, his 59-year-old wife and their second-oldest son, 33, were found by the couple's oldest son, 37, after he returned home from his job at a hospital.

Police said the three had died from inhaling carbon monoxide after burning charcoal briquettes on a stove. NTV quoted police as saying a farewell note was found in which the three said they planned to commit suicide.

What is going wrong? A group suicide? This is tragic.

Rest in Peace. Fair enough if the old couple decided they had done with living - maybe they sadly felt they had nothing left to live for - but to agree to let their son in on the pact? It beggars belief.

The success of Shinzo Abe's economic policies? The first arrow has landed with high suicide rate especially among the unemployed and the old..

I feel very sorry for the son who came home to the horror of it all. He's now alone.

Ah, Japan! The all talk about 'bushido', honor and personal drive, but so many of them just give up and kill themselves.

What an utterly selfish act - leaving their 3 bodies for the remaining family member (I am assuming) when he came home to find his entire family gone. Disillusioned I have no idea why you ahve been thumbed down, you speak the truth and you can add consideration of others to your list too.
