According to police, a neighbor called 119 after seeing flames and smoke coming from the two-story wooden house at around 6 p.m. Wednesday, Fuji TV reported.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze after about 3 1/2 hours but the 140-square-meter house was destroyed. The remains of three bodies were found amid the ruins. They have been identified as Hiramitsu Shima, 82, his wife Shizuko, 82, and their 60-year-old son Koichi.

My guess is murder suicide or group suicide, but it could also be a case of smoking in bed and falling asleep. I, for one, will not pass judgement. Lets wait and see.

That's what I thought too. But, yes, I might just as well avoid making any hasty decisions. Hope the police crack the case in due course.
