4 men killed in car-truck crash on Kenodo expressway in Tsukuba

IBARAKI —

Four men died and two men were injured in a car-truck collision on the Kenodo expressway in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, on Tuesday afternoon. According to police, a sedan crashed into a truck after crossing the center line, around 3:10 p.m. Killed were the driver and passengers of the sedan—Yoshihiro Morita, 54, Kazuya Suzuki, 21, Hiroaki Ito, 33, and Takayuki Shiina, 28.

Truck driver Masanori Yonegawa, 51, and a 59-year-old passenger in the sedan were injured.

Police said the four victims, who work for the tax office, were on their way back to their office after visiting a property.

    I drive to and from work everyday and have realised that not only cell phones can be a distraction but also fellow passengers riding with you can be. It's important to be cautious all the time.

    Assuming these vehicles crashed head-on, is this a section of expressway with only a centre line and no crash barrier?
