"I haven't got mine. and the address was correct. I checked the HP of the city office, couldn't find where to call them".
I sent mine in in maybe April or early May and recently I was thinking if I would ever get the notification. Well, golly gee whiz!! I got it just last Wednesday (July 1) and guess what? The money was actually put into my account on June 12!!! How's that for efficiency? Getting the notice a good two after the money was transferred.
This makes it sound as though the local governments doing the mailings are at fault, when in fact most of these have been returned due to lack of a forwarding address, people moving without changing their address at their local ward office, or for other reasons not within the local governments' control.
well, i moved from one ward to another, and had to lodge this change that was updated on my alien card... you'd think they would know my current address... have to go see them on Monday and see what's up with me 12K :)
what a collosal waste of money. if they had given us really good tax breaks instead
Yes, a tax break would be much more welcome, but the public is too stupid to be grateful for those so politicians say "We're giving you money" and then people feel some gratitude.
It's like the property tax - fairly insignificant but oh so noticeable.

I received mine, but I was also sent the application form for another foreigner with a similar name to my own, which I sent back to the ward-office.

I got mine!
Just remember, the fine US of A sent a whole bunch to DEAD people...no reports of how Japan did in that respect.

This information is mixed up, are they talking about the actual paper sent in the mail or the money sent to the banks after filling out the forms?

So if foreigners have the wrong address with the new law, 200,000 yen fine. But 471,000 Japanese get off scot free!

This is what happens in an unprepared panic. With an unprepared public.
