IBARAKI —
Five children were injured Monday after they were hit by a car while on their way to school in Omitama City, Ibaraki Prefecture, police said Tuesday. The four boys and one girl suffered slight injuries.
Police said the incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. as the children were walking along a straight stretch of road on their way to Hatori Elementary School. The driver, Takao Hagiwara, 67, told police, “The sun was too bright, and I was trying to put the sun visor down when I lost control of the wheel.”

Gambling is illegal in Japan until you get onto the roads.

Negligent driver.
I suspect the kids were injured at the time the car hit them; not afterwards.
