    I remember a previous article about this. She did this because her "real" daughter couldn't have a baby of her own. Genetically it's her grandchild.

    Notginger : surrogate is an indication, no a mistake. This lady did something very generous for her daughter and grand-child.

    She won't have to explain anything given how much this would have knocked her body around. it's very unlikely she'll be around when the child is old enough to ask.

    Technically the surrogate mother is the mother by Japanese law.

    I say if she is still able to have one, is healthy, in good shape, and no known problems for the child go for it. It is not like she has had 5 and just decided to keep having them like some mexican women here in the states. Why should you limit her. It sounds like she has done her daughter a favor, perhaps she can't have any. Medicine has come a long way and she may have been under good supervision through out.
