8 bullet trains delayed after 14-year-old boy walks onto tracks
FUKUSHIMA —
A 14-year-old boy got onto the shinkansen tracks at JR Fukushima station on Thursday afternoon, causing delays in eight train services.
According to police, the boy was standing on the tracks at the rear end of the Sendai-bound Max Yamabiko 119 shinkansen which had pulled into the station. A passenger on the platform spotted the boy and pushed the emergency button. There were no injuries in the incident, but according to JR East Japan, a total of eight bullet train services were delayed.

I hope this isn't going to be a new popular trend here in Japan with the young teens. WTF.... How did he "walk" onto the tracks? Don't you have to jump down, or climb over something? They need more security down on the platforms before this gets out of hand.

It's true, I don't know much about the Tohoku mainline. The only service I've been on was the Hayate.

Don't be ridiculous, it's impossible to protect train lines from subversive actions - especially in a country where people need to cross them regularly in their daily lives.

It's not impossible, I uses to bullseye womp rats in my T16 back home they're not much bigger than 2 meters!
All BS aside though, there's a difference between securing every inch of rail on this rock, and just doing nothing. Of the some 36000 people that killed themselves last year, how many of them went out by train?? Do YOU remember how many times you were train delayed by suicide last year? I stopped counting after 10.
