An 81-year-old man died after being pinned under rock while climbing near the Iwami Silver Mine in Oda, Shimane Prefecture, on Sunday.

According to police, Keizo Nawa and two friends were climbing near the World Heritage Site at around 2 p.m. when the accident occurred, Fuji TV reported. One of Nawa's friends called police to report he had been pinned under a rock that had broken off the surface of the mountain.

Nawa was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police said the three men had been climbing the mountain in order to get a better view of the Iwami Silver Mine ruins when the accident occurred.

Sad, but that is how I'd like to go. In the mountains at a good age.

A lot of people dont get to 81 yrs of age let alone have the ability at that age to continue with something like climbing. He did well, may he RIP.
