I distrusted Japan's government before the earthquake. This is just the proof I needed to say: "I told ya so"

What with the media collusion and under reporting the figure would be much higher, If the mainstream media in Japan had shown pictures of, or reported on Fukushima mayors making anguished pleas for aid or meetings where Fukushima residents were being denied tests for their children by Tokyo bureaucrats or dosimeters registering radiation In Kashiwa or...............
Yes, if this and more had been shown then the figure would be 100%
Ignorance is not a reliable statistic!

No surprises at all in these numbers. Myself and a number of other posters have been saying since early March that the government has been less than truthful during the whole Fukushima crisis. And that Japan is rapidly declining in terms of world prominence. And the J-supporters here labled us as "J-bashers" or "alarmists". Well, guess what, the VAST majority of Japanese people feel the exact same way. So what does that make them?

@ herefornow,
Exactly,

Who are the 18%?
jforce
82%, but will they voice their distrust in public?
Nicky Washida
Only 82%?
Cos
18% refused to answer to the insulting question and shouted at the baitos doing the survey : "Oh can you dare suggest I'd trust those guys ?" .

Cos- funny.

I`m not surprised by this article. How can anyone trust a government that continues to lie and make excuses for their inability to do the right thing! First of all, Japan has had 6 Prime Ministers in 5 year and since the March 11 Tsunami and earthquake that took place in Japan, there has not been much done to improve peoples lives. Japan is on a track where it can no longer be trusted anymore.

The 18% are the ones not in a position to know....
hatsoff
It's a damning indictment, but will anyone in these agencies listen and act on such widespread disapproval? Of course not. But while those polled voice their dissatisfaction to third parties, how many of them write directly or petition their politicians demanding answers and accountability? We have seen that voicing concerns directly CAN result in action from officials - Fukushima parents' groups, residents of Shibuya-ku (which resulted in increased monitoring of radiation), and so on.
As long as such dissatisfaction is expressed only to third parties, those directly responsible will find it too easy to ignore and thus will continue to avoid the accountability that is so sorely needed in Japan.

I believe in nuclear technology. I think a lot of people learned from this. But the govt. is like non-existent here. They need a severe change in the political arena.
Nicky Washida
For who, exactly? They are all as bad as each other.

The 18% who don't distrust government are government bureaucrats or Keidanren company officials for whom elected politicians are hired servants. They know the government will do their bidding.
