83-year-old woman dies after being hit by snow plow in Hokkaido

An 83-year-old woman died after she was hit by a snow plow in the parking lot of a convenience store in Kushiro, Hokkaido.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at a Seicomart store. The Hokkaido Shimbun reported that the snow plow was clearing the parking lot when it hit the woman, Yoshiko Sasaki, who was coming out of the store.

Plough in parking lot, she's coming out if the store... is there nothing between the lot and the door?

Never seems to matter if one is driving a car. They just arrest the driver, and ask questions later. Then they come up with bizarre answers if you ask me.

In a blizzard, on private land (not a public road, so not governed by road traffic laws). Lights on, engine running. Was the old lady watching where she was going? Extenuating circumstances, I would guess.

Even so, the authorities will probably throw the book at the operator.
