This prefecture is north of hiroshima, i believe.

Is the 'patrol boat' Japan doing 'its utmost' to offer safety and human-basis rescue attempts in this frightening situation?

Depending on how far 'off the coast' this occurred, were rescue 'copters utilized? or other means that are adequate?

the article sounds like the response was a 'slow boat to china'.

tapiOca: I don't see what you are going on about. Shimane is on the sea of Japan side of Japan. There was a call for a boat in Japanese waters to be rescued late in the evening on Tuesday even though it sunk on Tuesday morning. Perhaps that was a communication issue but there is nothing pointing to that. Then a rescue boat dispatched to the scene. It can take time to get things organized and I don't see any need for helicopters going out at night with limited visability. The rescue boat was able to get to the scene and safely rescued 5 people. It is sad that others are missing but I don't think that the coast gaurd is to blame here.

The story has changed a lot since my posting as well. Maybe JT could do us a favor and inform the readers of when it has been amended / completely changed.
