An advocacy group for people suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's disease presented Health Minister Yasuhisa Shiozaki with a policy proposal this week.
The group, which was launched on Oct 11, gave Shiozaki an official petition calling for legislation and policy to support people suffering from dementia, TV Asahi reported Friday. The group also defined their mission as “working to eradicate discrimination and prejudice against individuals with dementia.”
The group, which includes dementia sufferers, intends to spread awareness about what it is like to live a life with dementia, from the point of view of both sufferers and relatives. It urged the government to promote the creation of a society in which individuals suffering from dementia can live with dignity and achieve their life goals.
