The Nation of lawyers and people who like to sue at every opportunity. Well, that's the image I have :) Sure it was an accident. Accidents happen.

I am sure the Honda airbags have saved more lives and prevented more injuries than the rare event of the airbag itself causing injuries?

Yes, accidents happen, but in this case, Honda knew there are problems with the air bag mechanisms, but didn't recall the vehicle batches till it was too late, or until someone complains about the defects.

Just like the Toyota recall several months ago regarding sticking brakes. Reports have been made about the defective brakes, but the recall wasn't issued immediately. How many drivers and families have to suffer before recalls are handed out?

Honda acting very slow is not a crime. Have you known any Japanese business (or government agency) to act swiftly? Making quick decisions is a concept that just isn't understood, taught or wanted.

The crime here is that Honda didn't act fast enough to prevent the "accident".

Honda and Williams settled for an amount that cannot be disclosed as a condition of their agreement, May said.

By having an out-of-court settlement, Honda hereby acknowledged that they do accept the responsibility of the defective vehicle part.

This is not about crime - these are civil cases.

But one can still be culpable in civil cases and thus have to pay restitution.

Whats up with all of these dangerous cars?? Really pisses me off! I bet these companies, not just Japanese but many American companies too are paying many BRIBES to the NTS?? There in Washington DC to keep these recalls hush hush!

I expect honda will be taking Takata to task over supplying the faulty airbags, guessing takata will untimately have to pick up the tab for the court cases and the replacment airbag parts to rectify the problem.

Honda is only at fault for acting slowly not for manufacturing the faulty product.
