Akihabara restaurant serving 'Nadeshiko Sushi' in honor of soccer champs
TOKYO —
An Akihabara sushi restaurant on Thursday began a two-day campaign, serving “Nadeshiko Sushi” to honor the historic World Cup win by the Japanese women’s soccer team. The name stems from the nickname for the women’s team. The restaurant, Chubo, is already well-known for its all-female staff. The servers are wearing blue uniforms matching the women’s team uniforms and the restaurant will serve the “Nadeshiko” set for 700 until Friday night – a 180 yen discount, according to the restaurant’s website.
Meanwhile, Izakaya Nadeshiko, an appropriately named Japanese-style pub that also employs only female servers, is celebrating the World Cup win with a sashimi sushi platter discounted by 600 yen. The store owner says customers have been streaming in after searching for “Nadeshiko” on an Internet search engine and finding the restaurant, following the July 19 final.

If it's promoted and popular, I'm into it.

Anything to get a few extra yen, I suppose.
Anyway, I honestly thought that the team's coach's name was Nadeshiko. It stands to reason, I thought, that if the nickname of the Samurai Blue was 'Zacc Japan' they would treat the women equally. But nah, give them a name that conjures up nostalgia for when women were more subservient to their men (Yamato Nadeshiko).

I like izakaya that only hire girls like these joints. Nothing worse than going for a few cleansing ales after a tough day and finding out it's a sausage party RE the staff.
