Russia has denied all pleas from the Japanese to return the Kuril Islands and the Sakhalin Peninsula and I don't believe the Russians are entering Japanese airspace - fact is I believe the Japanese are breeding a scab on their noses.
The United Nations should be monitoring this area, especially since the manner the Japanese took back the Ryukyu Islands by the phoney reversion route.
Does any of the readers of this blog have any idea how or where the lines are that seperate Japan from Russia,
I have to agree with MichaelJP. Alien invasion makes more sense than globalism that benefits everyone except Japan, and it certainly makes more sense than assuming that the Kurii's are, in fact, Russian.
Greentea hit it on the head... anyone that believes ANYTHING coming out of these governments deserves exactly whay the get. Quite like a few other governments not mentioned. But I'm sure someone will quite soon...
I honestly believe the ASDF scrambled their jets 307 times in 2007 to justify their existence.. Thank you MichaelJP for your URL showing a map, but I already have a very detailed map of just what the Russians have and just how close Japan is to their lands (The lands you want to get back.)

This will help Japanese companies like Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
Defense Ministry: The Chinese and the Russians are probing our defenses in case they attack in the future. They want to find our weak points.
Diet: How dare they challenge us! Lets build more Aegis-equipped ships and install more Patriot missile systems. And lets try to get the U.S. Congress to sell us F-22 fighters in a few years. We don`t need to worry about whether overseas SDF deployments are constitutional or not. We must face up to the grave threat here in our own backyard. We must protect our sacred homeland!
This is when analysis is important. One needs a large wall map (digital is preferred), w/ flight arcs and dates posted. As in geometry, one needs to detect any noticeable patterns in the flight patterns, speculation as to purpose of each flight, ability to synthesize and collate the data and produce a response (like strengthening weak radar radius). If the ASDF posted that map, I bet someone on JT could figure out the pattern(s). However, would not be wise to show where the strengths are.
Boy, some of you really have vivid imaginations. The challenges to established Japanese airspace mostly occurs on the Sea of Japan and Pacific sides of the Japan, not in the vicinity of the disputed northern islands. It's common knowledge (evidently not for some posters here) that in the past few years Russia has renewed their Cold War habit of routinely flying long-range bombers into their neighbors' territorial air spaces.

Here's a good map: http://tinyurl.com/noqoh The disputed islands are those just off the northeast coast of Hokkaido, only 25km I think.

It's time for them to go up hot, and weapons free. Teach the Russians where the border is. Let's see them Pugachev their way out of a few sidewinders.

Obviously many of you that posted abive are in favir of morphing the SDF into a Japanese Imperial Military and then going to war.
I hope you all enlist and I hope you are out immediately in the front lines.
Incidentally, the PEOPLE of Japan only want PEACE - they have already experienced how ugly war can be.
However, be advised, you may all be "fried" in a quick moment and you'll never see the enemy.

Absolutely. 100%. We need resources that China is gobbling up. We must stop them.
Other people will be paid to fight. It's called outsourcing. Those who benefit financially don't do the dirty work, in any industry.
