TOKYO —
The decomposed bodies of four babies were found in plastic bags Sunday in the Tokyo apartment of a woman who committed suicide last week, police said Monday. Several years are believed to have passed since the babies died because most of the bodies were skeletonized.
The 51-year-old woman, who began living alone in the second-floor apartment in Tokyo’s Ota Ward more than 10 years ago, was found hanging Friday in a park in the same ward, police said.
She left a note saying, ‘‘I have suffered from money issues. I can’t pay rent any more.’‘
The younger sister of the woman and her husband found four plastic garbage bags in the apartment Sunday while organizing the woman’s belongings, police said. When they opened one of the bags, there was a foul smell, and they contacted the police.
The four bodies were swathed separately in layers of plastic bags, police said. Autopsies will be conducted to determine whether the babies were the woman’s.

Technically I believe females need a sperm donor in order to get pregnant; they can't actually do it by themselves.
But four times and nobody noticed? I suppose she wasn't that close to her family and she could always tell the neighbors she's letting her mother/sister/cousin raise the children. I wish her comfort in whatever world she is; she obviously couldn't cope with this world.

It would be a mistake to view this as indicative of something wrong in Japanese society - there have been similar incidents in Germany and Wales as well to my knowledge. It's not right, but it's not peculiarly Japanese.

maybe she had a denial pregnancy syndrome ? i've show something like that on TV. Women just refuse to admit they are pregnant and when the baby comes out it is just trash for them.

This is truly the grossest news story in Japan Today. Remember this the next time foreign crime in Japan is brought up. The home grown crimes beat everything.
Poor babies.

maybe the bank robber had "denial starve to death syndrome" and hit the bank as a consequence. Why do women get all the nice excuses for disgusting crimes?

Yeah, I think the problem with all the suicides & crazy crimes is from the crushing pressure of having to be/act a certain way to be accepted by japanese society. Along with these pressures comes very serious depression and anger issues.
Normally, if a person is feeling some sort of despair or suicidal thoughts, they usually get counseling or take therapy. Japanese society actually looks down on this. They believes that if you can not handle your own problems (i.e. if you recieve counseling), then you are a weak person. So ppl who need counseling dont ask for the help, hense breaking down and committing suicide or lashing out on other ppl (i.e. Japan's recently rich criminal association)..
But these stories shouldnt deter anyone from visiting this amazing place.. Its thick culture is something amazing to experience.

Funny, after reading articles such as this on Japantoday for the last two years, horror films don't seem to phase me anymore!

Icky - who could have lived in that place with four dead babies for so many years?! Wouldn't you like to peer into that skeletonized mind for just a few moments - but wouldn't want to be trapped in there.

LAST WEEK? Doesn't appear the police paid much attention to what was going on in her apartment either, let alone the neighbors.......
