Police in Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture, have found the body of a 6-year-old boy who fell into river and was swept away after heavy rain last Friday.
According to police, Nozomi Uchiyama fell into the river while walking along the outer edge of a bridge which crossed over the river last Friday afternoon. TV Asahi reported that the water level and strength of the current were higher than normal following heavy rain. The water was about 1.6 meters deep at the point where the boy fell in.
Police, firefighters and other emergency personnel searched for the boy over the weekend but did not find his body until Monday. His body was found on a riverbank nearly 1.1 kilometers from where he had fallen into the river.
On the day of the accident, Matsudo citizens were issued a flash flood warning after rainfall had been particularly heavy, TV Asahi reported.

Sad story. Just one of many that will be coming this summer due to neglect and just accidents.
