The body of a woman, aged between her 60s and 70s, was found floating in the Tone River in Inashiki City, Ibaraki Prefecture, police said Monday.
The woman's body was found by a fisherman at around 7 a.m., Fuji TV reported. The body was clad gray pants, a gray short-sleeved shirt and sandals, police said.
Police said there were no external injuries on the body, which did not appear to have been in the water for a long time. Police said that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Police said they have not yet determined if this is a case of suicide or murder and are working to expedite the woman's identification.

obviously "not yet determined" assumes it may be an accident.....
serendipitous
but it only mentions the two possibilities of suicide or murder being, 'not yet determined'.

serendipitous - "not yet determined" and "if" suicide or murder.
a pretty good clue that the police haven't determined the cause of death, right? They are just not dismissing anything right now.

If she has any relatives, they should come forward and make inquiries. In any event, we hope the police identify the body and shed light on the case ASAP. RIP.
