Well, I'm sure those three are happy to not have to be going to a very childish nation.

I was denied into a treehouse club when I was 7 and know the feeling.

Petty and childish. What does China think they can gain by doing this?

Do they think Japan is going to say, "Forgive us. We'll give you the Senkaku's.??

Petty, just petty.

You seems to see one side of story. Look at petty and childish behavior Japan is doing.

HRT's Chinese test driver Ma Qing Hua might have to sit out next weekend's Japanese grand prix.

According to Speed Week, the Spanish team intended the 24-year-old to drive Narain Karthikeyan's car during Friday morning practice at Suzuka next week.

But Ma Qing Hua is apparently having trouble securing a visa for entry to Japan.

China and Japan - Asia's two biggest economies - are locked in an escalating row over the disputed Diaoyu islands in the East China Sea.

the orchestra, which has over 90 members, would be able to perform even without the participation of the three Japanese.

And also without any sense of integrity or comradeship toward their Japanese colleagues.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

The Peoples Republic is a petty government run by petty people. We will respond in kind to them. Japanese in China need to leave Communist China now.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

It's best the three Japanese musicians do not enter China.

China is not safe for Japanese people right now.

They should also walk out of the descriminationof the Taiwanese 'Orchestra'.

This is so typical of the Rude, Crude, Undisciplined, ill Mannered, and Thuggish Communist Regime that administers China. Sore Losers!

12 ( +18 / -6 )

Beyond comprehension how a nation consisting of over a billion people can be ever so childish. Frightening in a way.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

how low can you get?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Count on China to up the level of childishness. It will only get worse before it gets better.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Didn't anyone notice the big 'probably' in this report ? Typical tabloid journalism has everyone foaming at the mouth and name calling.

Now ends the 3 minutes hate. Orwell was right.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

How professional, it just goes to show that they are cutting themselves from the rest if the world. Thank goodness their bubble is about to burst. They are so childish.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

This is a really terrible thing to do. Forgive me for sounding corny, but music should be something that brings people together. Countries will always have disputes about territories, treaties, and economic arrangements, but things like music should be what we experience to remind ourselves of our shared humanity and the beautiful things in life.

I hope Japan will not retaliate in any way when it comes to musicians.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

IMO in the long run, all this childish fighting is going to hurt china more. Economicly and politically. China has a little money in the bank for the first time in 2000 years and now they think they don't need any friends.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Yeah, the communist government is really doing a good job of making fools of themselves lately. They've been taking lessons from Ishihara, no doubt.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

politicians on both sides can continue to trade punches for all anyone cares, but when they start taking action against ordinary citizens from obtaining visas, they begin to look like a bunch of immature children.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

All for a couple of specs in the ocean.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Wow China can you get anymore childish?

HRT's Chinese test driver Ma Qing Hua might have to sit out next weekend's Japanese grand prix.

The Japanese Grand Prix has been and gone. Unless I've missed something and Japan are now hosting it twice each race year...

It is best that the 3 Japanese musicians stay in Taiwan. If they participate, the Taiwanese orchestra will be very loudly booed by Chinese audience because of presence of Japanese members, and the Japanese members may be attacked like the Japanese who recently died of his injuries suffered during demonstrations. So after all it is a good idea.

"All for a couple of specks in the ocean"

Don't forget the "rich fishing grounds" lol.

What China is doing is palliative. The true colors of a self proclaimed superpower.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

This should be filed under Dopey News of the Day. Even at the height of the Cold War, the US and Soviets engaged in cultural exchanges. China is putting its immaturity on display before the entire world.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

If they participate, the Taiwanese orchestra will be very loudly booed by Chinese audience because of presence of Japanese members,

I'm not so sure of this. I would assume that an audience consisting for of all things a symphony orchestra is more sophisticated then that.

But hey, the Chinese always find a way to surprise you with their childish ways.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

The hell with China....

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Communists are not big on music, or any art as far as that goes. It isn't something contributes to the social net worth of the collective.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Communists are not big on music, or any art as far as that goes

That has gone down in history. The commies with The Great Leap Forward were intent on the destruction of all art.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It is probably not so much as a desire to prevent Japanese from visiting red china, but a desire to shield the Taiwanese musicians from a likely first-hand display of vulgarity from Chinese audience members.

This of course would leave the Taiwanese with no uncertainty about the level of barbarity of their mainland China cousins, and cause the refined & cultured nature of their Japanese fellow musicians shine that much more brightly, as it does for us in the West.

Also, since when do Japanese need visa to visit China? I though they were issued automatically for 30 days. Anyway, no not visit China is NO loss for anyone.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

If there's no reason to deny them visas save out of spite over the island issue than I would say this is extremely petty and wrong. As well as harming relations it denies the musicians the chance to play and engage in grass roots exchange, as well as denying the listeners the pleasure of the music.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

This is to be expected from china but I'm dissapointed in the orchestra for going there despite this. Way to make them feel like part of the group.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

See? Everybody get hurt by a NDW (non destructive weapon), China will have more..and care less. TOTO is not looking good.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

This is getting so petty and childish.... the Communist Chinese party is demonstrating that they really do not belong in the international community yet. China needs a new revolution to kick these morons out.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

And at the same time, Japan denied visas to some Chinese presenters who were speaking at a conference in Tokyo this week. However, they were resourceful enough to send audio recordings of the presentations as well as the slides, so the presentations still went ahead.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Bullies by their very nature depend on childish & petulant actions to somehow make up for their own insecurities. The Chinese government is nothing but a bully here, as well as on many other occasions (the recent IMF meetings in Tokyo come to mind), and the international community should diplomatically put them in their place. To the Sinophiles here, yes, of course, other countries' governments act childishly too at times, but first, that doesn't make it right, effective, or productive; and second, we aren't talking about the actions of other countries here (like Japan), now are we?

Governments around the world (and unfortunately by extension, the people they represent), namely China once again, need to grow up and earn the global respect they so dearly want. Bullying their way to get it will never work.

Wow just WOW, Japan, China 2 peas in the same pod in a race to dig to the bottom of the sand box, lord knows which will win!

My 2 cents says China who!

Big country. Little mind.

Petty? Childish? What about nationalizing Chinas islands? What about ugly boys landing on China island, putting ugly Sun flag, take a photo? Soon China invad RyukyuOkinawa`, then we see who looks like childish eh??

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

it's better this way

Many problems if they went abroad. Plus safety will be tested.

1) luggage missing 2) food tampered with 3) Musical instrument lost or stolen 4) more and more problems

This kind of behavior is the reason why after the mighty Chinese Ming dynasty, China fell to an second/third rank country ! The Chinese government is not looking at its own and all the other East-Asian countries common intrests ! On the contrary, the European Union just got the Nobel Peace Prize for establishing peace and prosperity after WWII.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@LinXiansheng

Ryukyu is independent nation during the mighty Ming Dynasty, paying tribute to both the Ming Emperors and the Satsuma Domain, and later to the Qing Emperors and the Meiji Emperor. Ryuky has of course a long connection with especially Fujian Province, but claiming Ryukyu to be an integral part of China is colonial imperialism !

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

The European Union was being constructed in 1951, only 6 years after WWII, between former enemy countries like France, Germany, Italy,... The European Union just rightly got this year Nobel Peace Prize for creating peace and prosperity in Europe. Now the Chinese and Japanese governments are still fighting each other almost 70 years after WWII ! Who are the stupid children now?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The Taiwan National Ochestra should use this opportunity to teach history to the ignorant mainland Chinese. Explain about Koxinga, who remained loyal to the Han Ming Emperors, fighting against the Manchu Qing emperors! Koxinga was born near Nagasaki to a Chinese father and a Japanese mother. His father gave in to the Manchus, but his mother Lady Tagawa, came all the way from Kyushu to fight until dead beside her son, for the survival of the once mighty Ming dynasty!

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

yasukuni think you are right music should move us tougher. Hopefully Japan does not do the same.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Admitting/denying entry is most of the time very arbitrary. Just think about going for a swim with a tattoo in Japan. Any kind of stupid excuse is valid when someone need a justification to deny.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Oh, I think this move is not very good. Political things should not affect this part that much even though it always do. I wish I can represent some Chinese to say sorry to these 3 members.

What's next demanding all their Panda's back?

Google it, it's real, the PRC is that childish.

Wow, childish, yes. Thank you for providing ample proof of this.

Communist leaders are childish or whatever you say but it looks like making Crazy Woman wife. You don't know when she will squeeze your balls but you must expect it will happen sometime. What can you say? It's Communist style public relationship with outside world.
