HIROSHIMA —
About 230 cadets and crew of a Chinese naval training vessel on Saturday visited the Hiroshima A-bomb museum and the ruins of a building destroyed by the U.S attack on the city in 1945. It is rare for such a large contingent of foreign military personnel to visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park where the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and the monument known as the A-Bomb Dome are located.
The visit to the park took place at the recommendation of Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force, according to the MSDF. The 5,470-ton Zhenghe with some 360 crew members on board arrived at Etajima port in Hiroshima Prefecture on Thursday on a visit aimed at promoting friendly relations between the two countries.

Politically motivated; China showing it's suppport of the DPJ.
What we won't see on this trip is 230 Chinese sailors urinating at Yasukuni.

And Chinese for the first time may learn that it was the USA that saved their asses by defeating their enemy. But some may still remain ungrateful. Just like the Brits.

Yes, and so busy were the Americans trying to get one up on the communists, they let off a lot of the Japanese murderers (who went on to serve the post-war government), took all the results of the Japanese biological experiments performed on the Chinese (while still alive), and basically hushed up everything. Yes, the Chinese have a lot to be grateful for.
Anyone can visit the Hiroshima museum. I did, years ago. And I came out feeling that they never really explained why the bomb was dropped in the first place. All tears, but no explanation. And has the Korean memorial actually been moved closer, or is it still hidden behind some bushes across the road?

You mean for allowing the UK to fight the Nazis to standstill for two years and supplying all the lend-lease kit that paupered the country until the 90's while the US made up its mind? Yeah thanks for that.
Im sure the Chinese visitors to the A-bomb museum took many things away from their visit, but considering the US' eagerness to compete with China and the Soviet Union on other peoples territory following WW2, I doubt a feeling of gratitude was one of them.
