A husband and wife died in a fire that destroyed their house in Ogata, Fukuoka Prefecture, on Sunday morning.
According to police, flames at least 10 meters high were seen coming from the 2-story wooden home of Yosuke Komatsu and his wife at around 3:20 a.m., TBS reported.
The fire spread and destroyed the house and gardening sheds. It took firefighters about 2 1/2 hours to extinguish the blaze.
The bodies of Komatsu and his wife were retrieved from the second-floor bedroom, police said.
