Will be interesting to see how the media rationalise their continued harassment.

‘‘Maintaining personal contacts with a VARIETY OF PEOPLE will lead to healing." How can she do that when she's being kept under rigid IHA control? She can meet other royals, uh, foreign dignitaries, and uh, heads of museums at local functions - a skill required there: how to look interested when you're bored out of your skull. I hope the princess makes a full recovery and gets back to being the intelligent woman she appeared to be before getting sucked into the royal family.

"a psychological condition attributable in part to pressures resulting from palace life"

Jc 73: no you wouldnt, do really dont know about here life?, she has no privacy at all, all here phone calls are screened by the Kunaicho (Emperial household agency) she cant make any decisions, go anywhere without permisison, she has no real freedom any sense of the word. Why she gave it up her former life for that is bizarre, she spurned Crown prince for years before finally relenting. He should have married a cute, well educated more fertile and much younger woman who could have produced him plenty of male heirs and not gone off the rails with the stress of imprisonment.

grand master issei nomura and the rest of his ilk should stay away from her as far as i can tell. they have her (and the rest of the imperial family) in a straight jacket.

Who runs the royal family here, the IHA? If they want people to revere them as royals, then why don't they act it. Instead of doing what handlers tell her to do, just fire them all. After all, she is the princess. A few well placed firings, and one or two independent acts will probably put the IHA in their places, but also probably open her up to the public as someone who is not afraid to accept the responsiblity of a royal, and to try to become a positive influence on Japan and the world instead of being locked up like "Rapunzel."

I've heard that being a part of the Royal Family in England is more like living in a prison. From what I've heard, the Imperial Family is imprisoned even more-so. Yes, the life of royalty can be glamourous, but what price doeso ne pay to enter a royal or imperial family? I tend to agree with flammenwerfer: Why did Masako, Harvard-educated, marry into a life that, for all intents and purposes, is like living in a five-star hotel-prison? Likely, her family pressured her into it, as it would (and did) give the family a new level of prestige. However, the price that Masako has paid can't be cheap....

PS -- How do I put a photo into the "JT" box beside my username? Just curious....

I have no doubt they're at heart, a happy couple. And he seems a good egg so the only way they'll be happy is to do a runner. Go for it...
