I like the Empress but don't think much of her hat designer. The last one I saw looked like a black and white frisbee. Being Hawaii, she'd look much more elegant, and comfortable, in a muumuu.

Not sure if they are really welcome. His father is responsible for alot of hardship. Let's not forget. Westerners have a thing called History that we often look back at. Something obviously Japanese don't like doing very much. Out of all those students, wonder how many lived in Japan past graduation? From my school I am the only one left and that might end soon.

Stay there, it's the best place I've been, you can't beat Honolulu.

Me, me, me. These folks can't get enough of themselves. It's good to get out of the country, so you can...visit Japanese students, look at Japanese flag waving Japanese, oh and visit a tree you yourself planted? Talk about hitting the town!

why is it that in the UK people love the Queen and oher close memebers of the royal family (although there are too many of them), but in Japan hardly anyone (apart from a few older people) appear to give a toss about the Imperial family. isnt it about time to get rid of them. its not as though they do anything useful or productive.

the majority in UK don't give a toss about royal family, the majority in Japan don't give a toss about anything

The Queen of England still owns a ton of land, holds a great amount of money and nobody tells her what to do. The royal family in Japan lives at the whim of The Imperial Household Agency. If anything, the lack of populism with the Japanese Royals can be blamed directly on the policies of the The Imperial Household Agency.

You know something, it is good to see the couple healthy, well, and also keeping up the tradition of their country, in this downbeat world economy, any notable visiting our island, is without a doubt, a positive thing. Hey, wish our royalties were back on their thrown too.

    noborito,

For the most part they are welcome in Hawaii. Do some research regarding the HISTORY of Hawaii-Japan ties (including pre-statehood Hawaii) and the culture/demographics of Hawaii before you say something like that.

I take it you are Japanese then??

I agree with usaexpat, you can't beat Honolulu, even with a stick.

But I guarantee the royal couple will be back in Tokyo in a few more days.
