Nomura'a message is a profound and very poigniant one. That's the one message man must try to truly grasp and understand, and most importantly, put into practice.

It is exactly that. We must overcome religious indifference. But it appears that there are those in a certain part of the world who do not accept that. But education, equality and media reporting the truth are the keys. One religion can not just say that it is the one and only way and all those who are non-blelivers are infidels and should be killed. Shame on those who supported those bombings. Or any bombings at all. I will never forget that day. For all those that support violence, remember this. Hate breeds hate.

HATE BREEDS HATE WHICH BREEDS VIOLENCE!

troyinjapanSEP. 11, 2011 - 06:03PM JST It is exactly that. We must overcome religious indifference. But it appears that there are those in a certain part of the world who do not accept that.

Exactly! This is very true and this is specifically the primary reason we'll probably never be able to live in absolute peace. Unfortunately some folks have a different agenda. For some people, the right to free speech, education, music and everything we call freedom must be suppressed through any means.

This is the problem. The cultures can't mix unless people begin to change their ways. People begin to accept people of other races and backgrounds for who they are, what they are. Period. We should be living in harmony with one another!

Unfortunately some people can't change their ways because It usually all comes down to religion and beliefs. Folks refuse to accept and that is a huge problem.

My thoughts and prayers always with those that perished on 9/11 and not only that but to every single victim caught up and lost their life to terror.

troyinjapan: " But it appears that there are those in a certain part of the world who do not accept that."

What parts of the world are you referring to? Last I checked these attacks occurred on American soil, by nationals that the American government either literally trained themselves or gave secure passage to family members later when all flights were supposed to be grounded. But let me guess... you are suggesting we must overcome religious indifference while you point the finger at a certain religion?

Anyway, this is extremely sad, and I feel sorry for those who lost loved ones. I'm not sure why anyone would stop and take a picture of what was going on, but hey.

I think the era of GWB bastardized enough English without us helping... can we please call it 'terrorism' and not 'terror'?

“We need to overcome differences in race and religion and learn to live in peace. We are all brothers after all. We must remind ourselves of this today.”

Just raised my can to that!

I saw on NHK News 7 tonite the 13 year old son of a Japanese man who was killed in the WTC when the boy was 3 has been put in charge of reading out the names of the 24 Japanese killed in the attack, and said he wanted his father to know how much he has grown since.

May be PRAY?

What mathematical probability of 11/09 and 6-th month 11/04?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

We need to overcome differences in race and religion and learn to live in peace.

Nomura told about problems that not exists. Difference between races, religions, culture, nations that is excellently. But real problem that is our anti-culture, covetousness, non respect, indifference to our neighbors that is real problem.

smithinjapan. You know EXACTLY which religious group I am referring to.

gave secure passage to family members later when all flights were supposed to be grounded

I agree with you smithinjapan completely on this one. G.W should have been thrown in ail for letting that happen. But the only training they received from the US was at private flight schools. That wasn't done for the purpose of sending them into the WTC buildings. They didn't exactly tell the authorities that they were going to do what they do, so don't put that on us!!!!!

Point the finger? YOU BET I WILL. That is the group that did it. What do you want? It was done for jihad purposes. If you put frosting on poop, it is still poop. You can call it what you want smithinjapan.

Anyway, most of US Americans can forgive and forget. But we all know which group was part of that. And I am sorry if I offend any muslim who does not agree with terrorism. I know there are sooooooo many good Muslims in this world. But unfortunately it was muslims who did it.

If we are to forget the past, then the war on terror must be over. The feelings of resentment will never heal on either side. And the only way that can happen is if we both step back and try to accept each other.

When the terrorism stops, I think that is when we can start mending fences.

Bessonov: "What mathematical probability of 11/09 and 6-th month 11/04?"

It's simply a coincidence. The earth's crust didn't decide to move on the 11th because of any relation to 9/11, I can assure you.

troyinjapan: "You know EXACTLY which religious group I am referring to."

Of course I do, which is why you are a hypocrite for saying 'we' must overcome religious intolerance while you discriminate against others. You are as bad as them, and in many ways you are worse -- I don't see many Muslims on here preaching hate, but I see people who group all Muslims with the radicals who commit terrorist acts thinking the onus is on said people to solve the hypocrites' problems for them. Start with yourself -- if you honestly believe everyone outside your personal belief system has the power to mess up your life then you have no power yourself.

troyinjapan: "When the terrorism stops, I think that is when we can start mending fences."

You mean when YOUR definition of terrorism stops and you are mollified, no?

Its really really sad to see innocent life perish, but millions of innocent have died in past few years by the american revenge attack on afg and iraq...and the cycle will continue, those who lost loved ones will want revenge now on americans...like one poster said, hate breeds hate, killing breeds killing, the initial attack by those f trrorists was their revenge on american foreign policy that kills and has been killing innocents for years. I suggest america should lead by example and stop supporting such foreign policy, ie israel that kill and improsin thousands of palis (in fact, improsining a whole race, just like the germans did with the jews...... (and so in my opoinion one big cause of 9/11).

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Not one bit. I have no anger. MY definition of terrorism????? That's laughable. It's the same definition everyone else has. The kind of terrorism that happened on 9/11. The kind that killed innocent people who were just at work. Who didn't have anything to do with anything. The kind of terrorism that happens everyday in the middle east in bakeries, market coffee shops and all the other places. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT SUICIDE BOMBERS who kill innocents in the name of Allah on PURPOSE. GOOD MUSLIMS AS WELL. Not the accidental bomb that goes astray and kills innocents. That's what we are talking about. So, don't get SMUG with me. You know EXACTLY WHO and WHAT I am talking about. SMITHINJAPAN!!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Until I am mollified? That will not happen until people stop killing each other in the name of a religion!!!! That is when I will feel good about this whole thing. When intentional killings of innocents is non-existant. That is when all people can start building a future that is filled with mutual respect for each other and each other's religions.

Yeah that's all great "terror" "terrorism", whatever you want to call it! Maybe it be good idea to leave "English lessons" aside - just for today 9/11 and focus on the moment.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I totally agree southsakai. GOOD ONE!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Throughout our history this message has gone unheeded. When are we going to let it become a part of who we are?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@troyinjapan. Relax man, I think smithinjapan is just trying to play devil's advocate. I really don't know why. Cause it doesn't really make much sense. What is he trying to say? That the American government trained those people to do what they did? They let the terrorists in on purpose to do just that? What utter nonsense. That is why I think he must be playing the devil's advocate here. I don't know myself. I don't read the National Enquirer.

Anyway, the true fact of the matter is that the terrorist were actually Muslims. It was done in the name of "Jihad". It killed innocents. It was not supported nor sanctioned by the U.S. government (Unless you read the Enquirer) and now there are many good muslims who have to live with this. I am not as aggressive as "troyinjapan" on this issue. (Sorry) We can't single out these people if we want peace. But, then again it is quite difficult not to. Ask the Chinese and the Koreans when it comes to dealing with the Japanese. (Don't want to open up the can of worms. People don't just forget and i don't think it is something Americans can walk away from while there is terrorism still occurring.

By the way, I have to agree with "troyinjapan" on something else. Terrorism is the purposeful killing of innocents to achieve a political objective. What the U.S. is doing is hardly the case. There are accidents that happen, but they are not intentional. The U.S. has not been going in there with the purpose to kill innocent people. If they were then that could be called terrorism.

The war on Iraq was a stupid one. One meant to get a tyrant out of power who had rubbed President Bush's father the wrong way. BUT AFGHANISTAN is not the same thing at all. It was to get Bin Laden and Al Quaida out. And it was justifiable.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

YongYang. What message is that???

0 ( +0 / -0 )

WOW! Thanks for the info mouse. I thought many more were killed.

Why is it that everyone always has to come out against the U.S.? There are more than a dozen countries that have or are still participating in the war in Afghanistan. It makes no sense. This is a day for us to mourn. Our country was attacked! 1000s lost their lives who did nothing at all. I feel a lot of sympathy for all of the dead though. On both sides. A part of the muslim side is ignorant to reality and unbending in its desire to understand other countries and religions. To just let people live as they want to. We don't all have to be muslims and there is no reason that the Palestinians and the Israelis can't coexist. In fact, why is it that Arabs find this issue so important when they themselves in history were not too kind to the Palestinians either before israel came to being in the first place? just because they are of a different religion? Nonsense. Live and let live. Live together and understand each other. I know people may disagree but I don't see the Arabs allowing that. If there were no terrorism than there would be no need for U.S. involvement.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@troyinjapan As the great Bruce Hornsby sang, "That's just the way it is. Somethings will never change".

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The facts are that thousands of people were innocently killed by terrorists and the families who lost their loved ones were not killed by the U.S. government. It was Al Queada. My heart does go out to the Japanese who lost loved ones. They were just in New York to do business just like so many other foreigners who were killed in that attack.

Every memorial reminds the Hate , to Hate the killers and peace to the dead Victims. Even Hiroshima , Nagasaki. Perl harbor, 911, or Yasukuni Ceremonies ...Creates more hate and dislike . All the time it effects to living parties not to the Dead So Forget the memorials . that is Finished,

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I have to agree with Miyazawa. I am very sorry. Yes, innocent people who are killed should be remembered but in reality, memorials do keep the hate alive. They help us to remember what the other side did to us and that does fuel hatred. It can't be helped on both sides. The victims deserve to be remembered, but the memorials do keep in our minds what vile thing the other side has done to us.
